2025 MLB Season Preview: Seattle Mariners Look To Return To Postseason
The Seattle Mariners ended their postseason drought in 2022. With a young roster full of talent, it seemed as though Seattle would become a staple but that has not been the case.
Seattle has missed the postseason in each of the last two years and not by much. The team will be looking to change fortunes in 2025 led by one of the top pitching staffs in the league.
The Mariners rotation was at the top of the league last year. The group led MLB in ERA (3.38), quality starts (92), and opponent batting average (.211). Luis Castillo has fit in right away with the rotation while George Kirby and Logan Gilbert have turned into extremely reliable starters. Throw Bryce Miller and Bryan Woo into the mix and Seattle has a group of five that has dominated.
The Mariners will have to stay healthy this season and it begins with Julio Rodriguez. He is one of the young stars in the game and can carry Seattle over the course of the season. With Victor Robles at the top, the Mariners start off with plenty of speed to set the table for the likes of Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh, who signed an extension this offseason.
The Mariners have all the pieces in place. Now, it is all about putting it together in an American League where it should be possible to compete.

Record Prediction
The Mariners have the star power in place with Rodriguez and the starting rotation that should keep them competitive. The American League is down once again this year. This leaves the door open for a Seattle team that has missed out on the postseason by games in recent years. This could be the year the Mariners return and land one of the Wild Card spots in the American League.
Final Record: 85-77
