WrestleMania VII: Hulk Hogan Liberates Championship From Sgt. Slaughter (1991)

Hulk Hogan wrapped himself in the American flag when he won his third World Wrestling Federation championship from Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania VII.

The WWF hoped to pack 100,000 fans into the LA Coliseum for the battle, which took place during the Persian Gulf War.

However, the show was moved to the smaller LA Sports Arena instead.

Slaughter had turned his back on America and won the WWF title from The Ultimate Warrior at Royal Rumble 91.

With the tide of patriotism on his side, Hogan vanquished Slaughter to regain the WWF championship.
