‘Buffalo Bosa’ Is Leaving Tinseltown For The Bills

Let’s face it; the Los Angeles Chargers needed to move on from Joey Bosa. They needed to cut ties with the 5-time Pro Bowler, who has only played in 28 games since 2022. He has become a bit of a ‘injury liability’ for Harbaugh and co., and the thought of paying him $20 million+ per year has become a bit unreasonable for them.

But, after only a week of being on the open market, it looks like the former Ohio State Buckeye has found a new home. It looks like the star EDGE rusher will be making his way east, and will join a fellow AFC squad who just lost an edge rusher of their own.

That’s right, football fans; the 2024 AFC East champions just landed ‘Buffalo Bosa.’ After letting go of future Hall-of-Famer Von Miller, who had a few injury-riddled seasons of his own; Sean McDermott and co. were able to replace him with a younger human…..for (roughly) half the price.

Bosa, for those of you who are unaware, has been in the league since the 2016 season (all with the Chargers). In those 9-seasons, the 2016 AP Defensive ROY has compiled a stat-line consisting of;

107 G, 72.0 Sacks, 252 Solo, 17 FF

He has been one of the top defenders in the league since his first game, making the lives of opposing AFC West QBs HORRIBLE over the past number of years. Sadly though, as stated earlier, the injuries began to catch up to the 29-year old vet. Even with fellow All-Pro Khalil Mack being added to the squad in 2022, the Chargers weren’t really able to capitalize on having both of them on the field.

It was a rough end to his tenure on the west coast. But it looks like he will have a fresh start out in Buffalo, with a defense that ranked 11th in points per game (21.6), and 19th in sacks (39). He will join a line that consists of up-and-coming star Gregory Rousseau, and DL Ed Oliver.

This…..this makes a lot of sense here, people. This team is in DESPERATE NEED of a pass rusher, who can help accelerate a unit that needs it when it comes to pressuring opposing offenses. Not only that; they are also getting that said help on a rather “cheap deal,” when compared to what they had in the past. The only problem that they have is…..can he stay healthy? Can he make this upcoming season worthwhile? Or did Brandon Beane just throw away $12.6 mill on a “hunch?”

Personally…..I think there’s a good chance that he makes a leap forward from year’s past. Sure, I don’t see him going back to full-reps right off the bat, like he was back in 2021. If anything, he will most-likely become a “rotational piece” of sorts, who gets a majority of the reps. But in the end…..expect a substantial leap for the brother of Nick Bosa, leading to a much larger signing next off-season.

But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
