Cavs Hang on to Beat the Hornets, 118-117
On Friday March 7th at 7pm eastern time, the 52-10 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Charlotte North Carolina to play the 14-47 Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center. The Cavaliers last game was a 112-107 home win over the Miami Heat last Wednesday. The Hornets last game was a 125-110 loss at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves last Wednesday as well. Out for the Cavaliers is Emoni Bates. Out for the Hornets was Brandon Miller, Mark Williams, and Josh Okogie. LaMelo Ball was listed as probable due to an illness. But he did play in this game. The Cavaliers were trying for their 53rd win of the season and their 13th win in a row.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers played a little sluggish and took time to get going. But after one quarter of play the Cavaliers and Hornets were tied 27-27. The Cavaliers started the second quarter with a 7-0 run, and the Cavaliers started to pull away from the Hornets. At halftime the Cavaliers led the Hornets 63-52. In the third quarter the Hornets fought back to within two points of the Cavaliers. But after three quarters of play the Cavaliers still led the Hornets 87-83. In the fourth and final quarter the Hornets fought hard but came up short against the Cavaliers 118-117. The Cleveland Cavaliers won their 13th game in a row and their 53rd game this season.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 24 points in 36 minutes. Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley both had double-doubles. Allen had 14 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes. Mobley earned 19 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Up next for the 53-10 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to Milwaukee Wisconsin Sunday March 9th at 8 pm eastern time, at the Fiserv Forum. To play the 36-25 Milwaukee Bucks. This Cleveland Cavaliers team will be trying for their 14th win in a row and their 54th win of the season. All Cavaliers fans can do is watch and see what happens.
