Bills Secure Their Top Target: Khalil Shakir Signs Four-Year Extension

More good news keeps on coming for Bills fans as on Tuesday February 25th the Bills announced Khalil Shakir’s four-year extension, reportedly worth up to $60.2 million with $32 million guaranteed. This contract reflects the organization’s confidence in Shakir’s abilities and potential. This move also shows the team’s commitment to keeping Josh Allen happy as by re-signing Shakir, it is guaranteeing that Josh still has his top weapon to throw to in the future.

After what Shakir did in clutch situations to help the Bills this was a much needed move as Khalil shined leading the NFL in catch percentage during the 2024 season, achieving an impressive 93.3% catch rate also leading the team with 76 receptions for 821 yards and four touchdowns over 15 games.

This contract was much deserved for Khalil personally as he is a 5th round draft pick who finally got his time to shine after Gave Davis and Stephon Diggs left and he made his mark becoming receiver the #1 for Allen when no one expected him as critics and fans were saying that Curtis Samuel would take that spot. Then the former Boise state product proved everyone wrong as he showed his consistent playmaking ability and versatility with an average of 10.8 yards per catch.

Now with the contract in the books Bills fans have something to look forward to for the next 4 years as we see this exciting connection between Allen and Shakir to continue to develop and it makes the Bills’ receiving unit still a force to be reckoned with. As his presence, along with other offensive talents, guarantees that Buffalo’s passing game will keep putting pressure on defenses throughout the league and hopefully that will help lead us to a Super Bowl.
