Best MLB Duos Heading Into 2025 Season
There was plenty of change heading into the 2025 MLB season and that includes many lineups being bolstered by big moves.
This has created many duos in the league that will dominate on the field from start to finish.
When looking around different lineups in the league, who make up the top duos around?
7. Fernando Tatis Jr. & Manny Machado, San Diego Padres
The Padres have multiple options here, which means the future is bright. At 32 years old, Machado is not long for the future but he is still as dynamic a player as there is in the league. As for Tatis, if he can stay healthy, he is among the bright, young stars in baseball. Jackson Merrill could have also been listed after a year where he was the Rookie of the Year runner-up, hitting .292 with 24 home runs.
6. Yordan Alvarez & Jose Altuve, Houston Astros
Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman are gone but the Astros still feature plenty of fire power within the offense. Yordan Alvarez is one of the best pure hitters in the game while Jose Altuve continues to play at a high level while leading Houston to the top of the AL West.
5. Gunnar Henderson & Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles
Henderson is among the league’s best shortstops after a year where he hit 37 home runs and 31 doubles. The Orioles have a plethora of young talent but it did not quite come to fruition last season. Rutschman cooled off late in the year but has the potential to be a star for a long time. The Orioles could also see the likes of Jackson Holliday and Colton Cowser break out in 2025.
4. Ronald Acuna & Marcell Ozuna, Atlanta Braves
Ronald Acuna might not be ready for the start of the season after suffering a torn ACL in 2024 but when healthy, these two will carry the Braves near the top of the NL. Marcell Ozuna put together an incredible year last year that put him in the MVP race.
3. Bryce Harper & Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies
Washington fans, look away. Years ago, this duo resided in D.C. and now, the Phillies are reaping the benefits. Bryce Harper is still playing at an MVP level while Trea Turner shook off the cobwebs and adjusted to Philadelphia in his second season.
2. Juan Soto & Francisco Lindor, New York Mets
Baseball is alive and well in Queens. Steve Cohen went out and signed Juan Soto to pair with Francisco Lindor at the top of the lineup. After finishing as the runner-up for NL MVP, Lindor will now hit in front of the most impactful signing in the history of the Mets. Any other year, this would have run away with the top spot due to the incredible, five-tool ability of both players.
1. Shohei Ohtani & Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers
Take your pick of the Dodgers lineup here. It is a lineup full of former MVPs and of course, one current in Ohtani. The best player in baseball resides in Los Angeles and is at the top of a lineup with Mookie Betts, who continues to do big things in big spots.
