Rockets Fall To Warriors In Final Game Before All Star Break

The Golden State Warriors aren’t exactly what you would call a “good matchup” for the Houston Rockets.

Entering Thursday night, the Rockets were just 1-15 against the Warriors in their last 16 contests with that one being the NBA Cup Quarterfinal win earlier this season.

Unfortunately for Houston, that 1-15 turned into a 1-16 after a battle at the Toyota Center last night.

Golden State took home a 105-98 win over the Rockets led by 27 points from Steph Curry and 19 from Jimmy Butler.

Houston made a run to comeback late in the fourth quarter cutting the lead down to 2 at one point but an 11-2 Golden State run put the game away.

Down the stretch Rockets coach Ime Udoka benched Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Dillon Brooks and was asked if he was tempted to put them back in.

“No. Not at all.” Udoka abruptly said.

Aaron Holliday got the start in place of Fred VanVleet and led the Rockets with a strong 25-point effort.

Sengun was the only other Rocket in double figures with 10 as the rest of the Houston starting five combined for just 20 points.

Udoka played seven players off the bench and three of them finished in double figures as Jeff Green had 10, Jock Landale had 13 and in a surprising effort, Nate Williams had 11

Houston will take some time off for the NBA’s All-Star break before returning to action next Friday when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
