Rangers Announce Honors For Andrus, Beltre

Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre were inseparable during the eight seasons they played together in a Rangers uniform.

On Tuesday, the Rangers made sure that the iconic duo wouldn’t be honored apart from each other.

The Rangers announced that Andrus will be the 27th member of the Rangers Hall Of Fame. At the same time, Texas announced that Beltre would be receiving a statue outside Globe Life Field.

Andrus has started more games at one position than any other player in Rangers history. He retired in September as the Ranger’s all-time franchise leader with 305 stolen bases, 133 more than any other player, recording 20+ steals ten times with five different years or 30 or more.

He ranks second in club history in total games (1,652), at-bats (6,366) triples (48), and sacrifice hits (100) and also places among the Rangers’ lifetime leaders in runs (3rd, 893), hits (3rd, 1743), doubles (5th, 303), total bases (5th, 2370), multi-hit games (5th, 451), walks (6th, 516), and runs batted in (7th, 636).

At 36 years old, Andrus will become the youngest Rangers Hall Of Famer ever inducted since its creation in 2003.

Andrus will be honored on June 28th with a pregame ceremony before the Rangers take on the Seattle Mariners, more details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Rangers fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing Adrian Beltre’s statue unveiled, as that will take place on August 22nd.

Beltre’s statue will be created by Granbury, Texas artist Mike Tabor, and will be permanently located on the outside Northeast Entrance Plaza of Globe Life Field.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer to see if the statue will depict Beltre’s famous one-knee home runs as no further details about the statue will be announced until a further date.

Once Beltre’s statue is unveiled on August 22nd, he will become the third Ranger to have a statue outside Globe Life Field, joining his fellow Hall Of Famers Nolan Ryan and Ivan Rodriguez.
