3 Best Wide Receiver Options For Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.
The Commanders hit a home run last year by drafting Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. Pair Daniels with a new General Manager and head coach, and the Commanders are completely under new guidance.
Washington enters the offseason with the third-most cap space in the NFL at nearly $90 million. There are still some holes for the team but the need for a WR2 opposite Terry McLaurin is a must.
There are options, both in the trade market and via the draft. Check out three options that could fit the Commanders scheme, led by Kliff Kingsbury, well next season.
3. Tee Higgins
The headliner of this offseason has been Tee Higgins but this comes with multiple problems. First, Joe Burrow has banged the drum for Higgins to return to Cincinnati long-term. The Bengals will likely attempt to work with the needs of their franchise quarterback. Other than that, Higgins will come with a hefty price tag. While Washington has an abundance of cap space, it is unlikely that the team will shell out upwards of $30 million on a wide receiver. Higgins remains on the list because of the overall allure of pairing him with McLaurin.
2. Cooper Kupp
Cooper Kupp is an early name that has been linked to the Commanders early in the offseason. The Los Angeles Rams might be looking to shake things up and this includes moving Matthew Stafford. If this happens, it is likely that Kupp is also available. The price tag will not be high for Washington and the potential prize is an elite No. 2 wide receiver that can go over the middle and score in the red zone. These are both areas that Washington needs to improve. The offseason would like completely different with this one move.
1. Emeka Egbuka
If Adam Peters decides to go the draft route for a wide receiver, Emeka Egbuka should be at the top of the list. The question is, will the Ohio State star make it to No. 29? That, we will not know until draft night but Egbuka has looked like the real deal. Washington can also look for offensive line help in the first round or even trade back for more assets. The team has also been linked to Missouri WR Luther Burden in the first round but Egbuka should be the pick if he is still on the board.
