2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open: Preview, Picks and Betting Odds

The PGA Tour is preparing for another event this weekend when the PGA Tour’s top players will descend on the Memorial Park Golf Course for the Texas Children’s Houston Open golf tournament. With the Tour moving out of their Florida swing, it is time to talk about who might be victorious this weekend and claim victory.

While some might think with The Masters just weeks away this might be a down week for the tour, but this field will include the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark and Aaron Rai.

Who will claim victory at the Houston Open in 2025? Will Scottie Scheffler win for the first time in 2025, or will the “Year of Rory” continue?

When it comes to making predictions/picks for golf, there is a method to my madness. The first step in the process is to take a look at the course, and past winners. Let’s see what the Houston Open has in store for fans this weekend:

Texas Children’s Houston Open

Memorial Park Golf Course, Par 70, 7,475 yards

Past Winners

2024: Stephan Jaeger

2023: Tony Finau

2022: Jason Kokrak

2021: Carlos Ortiz

From this point, we have to take a look at who the odds-on favorites are to win the tournament. Here are the Top 5 favorites to win, and these odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:

Top 5 Odds

  • Scottie Scheffler (+350)
  • Rory McIlroy (+700)
  • Aaron Rai (+2800)
  • Wyndham Clark (+2200)
  • J.J. Spaun (+2200)

My Picks

Every time I produce picks, I break them down in the a variety of picks. You don’t have to make these plays, but this is where I’m leaning in this week’s contest. My favorite picks are players who are less than +2000 odds, with the long shot picks greater than +2000 odds. For this week’s event, here are my Favorite and Long Shot picks:

Favorite: Scottie Scheffler (+350)

Long Shot: Jason Day (+3500)

The next phase of my picks are players who are slated to finish within a certain area on the leaderboard. The Top 5, 10, 20 picks also include ties, so if a player finished T-20 and you had them as a Top 20 pick, you win. Here are my plays, and the odds, for this week’s signature event:

Top 5

Wyndham Clark (+600)

Aaron Rai (+450)

Top 10

Tony Finau (+280)

Maverick McNealy (+400)

Top 20

Jason Day (+140)

Sahith Theegala (+190)

BONUS PICKS

Betting on golf is multi-faceted, and you can increase your odds on winning outside of the outright winner bet with different types of bonus bets. This would include the Double and Triple bets, but also different bets which can still get you plus odds. There are other specials plays, but we’ll save those for the big tournaments on the schedule. Here are my bonus plays for this week:

Winner WITHOUT Rory McIllroy or Scottie Scheffler: Tony Finau (+2500) and Jason Day (+2500)

Winner to be in the final group Round 4: The pick is the winner will NOT be in the final group (+175)
