2025 MLB Season Preview: Will Arizona D’Backs Pitching Improve Enough?
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been an intriguing team since making a run to the World Series just two years ago.
Arizona has a former Rookie of the Year in Corbin Carroll, who is looking to bounce back from a down year in 2024, anchoring the lineup. The problem last season was the pitching and Arizona made a big move to improve.
The Diamondbacks scored the most runs in the MLB last season but missed out on the playoff by one game in the Wild Card race. The pitching woes had plenty to do with this over the course of 162 games. Arizona went out and signed Corbin Burnes to a massive six-year contract worth $210 million. He is a true ace that can take the ball every five days and even end a losing streak if one comes up. That is what an ace is supposed to do.
Carroll is at the top of a lineup that includes Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez, who can provide some pop. The young stars also take precedent with Carroll and Jake McCarthy in centerfield.
The National League is loaded and the Diamondbacks hope to be in the mix at the end of the season once again.

Potential Lineup
- Corbin Carroll, OF
- Ketel Marte, 2B

- Geraldo Perdomo, SS
Potential Rotation

Record Prediction
The addition of Burnes is going to make a big different in the rotation but he cannot be the only piece to step up. He takes the ball once a week, which means other arms will have to rebound from a poor performance last year. The offense should continue to score runs, which will keep the team in the mix in the National League.
Final Record: 86-76
