2025 MLB Season Preview: New-Look Boston Red Sox Look To Make Noise In American League

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most interesting teams with great success over the last two decades.

The Red Sox have won four World Series titles since breaking the curse but have also sprinkled in many years at the bottom of the AL East. There has not been many in-between years in Boston. This year, the Sox are hoping for another big run after an impressive offseason.

It all began by acquiring Garrett Crochet in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. Boston added a 25-year-old, left-handed ace that could be at the top of the rotation for years to come if an extension is agreed upon in the future. They doubled down by adding Walker Buehler in free agency on a one-year deal. This prove-it deal has tremendous upside if Buehler is healthy.

The offseason was complete by signing Alex Bregman to a three-year deal. The Red Sox were the winners of the sweepstakes for the former World Series champion. With Rafael Devers in place, Bregman will likely move to second base, which is something he expressed a willingness to do. All of a sudden, with Jarren Duran at the top, the Red Sox have one of the better top three hitters in the league.

The Red Sox have a chance to return to form in a difficult AL East this season. The front office made big-time moves with a focus on winning right away.

Record Prediction

The schedule will be a bear for a majority of the season. Boston will have to go through the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, not to mention Toronto, within the division. This was the driving force for the Red Sox to make the move they did. Does this team have a chance to win the division? It might be difficult to beat out the Yankees but the Red Sox have a good chance to emerge as a Wild Card team that could make a deep run in the postseason.

Final Record: 88-74
