2025 MLB Season Preview: Minnesota Twins Take Over The AL Central?
It was a tale of two seasons for the Minnesota Twins in 2024.
The Twins got off to a quick start and were in position to win the AL Central. A 12-27 finish cost the team the division and now it will look to regain momentum as the 2025 campaign begins.
The star power for the Twins begins with Carlos Correa. The shortstop got off to a quick start last season and was putting up big-time numbers before landing on the injured list toward the midway point of the season. He will nail down the middle infield along with options like Brooks Lee and Edouard Julien.
Royce Lewis remains a major missing link as he continues to battle back from injury. When healthy, Lewis has turned into one of the most prolific hitters in the game but has not found a consistent position. It looks as though he will land at third base when he returns.
The starting rotation is very strong for Minnesota. Pablo Lopez is the ace of the staff and brings his nasty stuff back for 2025. Lopez has swing-and-miss stuff across the board. Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober also have ace-like stuff but have battled injuries and inconsistencies. Add second-year starter Simeon Woods Richardson into the mix and the Twins have a strength in the rotation.
The AL Central was being taken over by the Twins last season before a major collapse over the final month and a half. Minnesota will look to get off to a similar quick start but will have to make it last over the full 162-game schedule.

Record Prediction
The AL Central is not the deepest division in the world. The American League as a whole is considered on the weaker side, especially when compared to the National League. The Twins feel apart last season but got off to an insane start. Let’s assume the start evens out but the team finds consistency across the season. Expect the Twins to be in the mix for the division title and pulls it out at the end, sending Minnesota back to the postseason.
Final Record: 87-75
